What We Do
Munro Hampton Florida alumni chapter focus is primarily for educational, tuition and transportation assistance to current students at Munro College and Hampton School based on need and educational performance.
Donations to Munro and Hampton students are approximately $6,000 annually. Our annual commitments are:
- $5,500 to HOGA and MCOBA student scholarships assistance for boarding, tuition, transportation and educational supplies.
- $500 to Steve Harle Fund scholarships to assist students from Munro community.
- In addition, alumni donated funds in past to help defray expenses for Munro College UN Assembly team’s trip to NY, Hampton’s Echoes performances in Kingston; and assistance as indicated by donors for specific bursaries/scholarships.
- As a US based non-profit, we donate approximately $500 for local causes. In the past we supported Sheridan House Florida housing accommodation for children with behavioral issues and Joe DiMaggio children’s hospital for medical assistance.
- Our members are actively involved in local causes. We participate in Florida all alumni walkathon fundraiser held December each year with other Jamaican alumni associations. Some members are actively involved with Kiwanis, local church and cultural communities, human trafficking awareness and children issues.
Our annual target is $10,000 or more as the need is truly much greater. There are many requests to assist students with hardships which we can’t address, but endeavor to do what we can.
